Introduce yourself to the Visions of Greatness audience.
Hi! I'm a Sports Chiropractor/Integrative Health Doctor and Wellness Coach and I help the overwhelmed and stressed to decrease and limit stress, shift their lifestyle, and embody true wellness by attaining health from the inside out. I'm a product of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (Rattler pride) where I obtained my B.S. in Cardiopulmonary Science followed by my M.S and D.C. in Sport Health Science and Chiropractic from Life University. I'm a bit of a free spirit in that I have many tools in my arsenal of health to include birth doula, soft tissue specialist, professional and personal development facilitator through my corporate wellness program, University educator, author, speaker, etc. Most importantly, I'm a wife to a wonderful man, a mother to an amazing tiny human, a daughter to my mom (my rock), and one of the managing caregivers for my aging grandparents. Family is IMPORTANT to me.
Who or what inspired you to pursue entrepreneurship?
My grandparents owned their own businesses even before I was born and I grew up watching them and being a part of that culture. Not only that but I also watched my parents in business as well. I've been blessed with amazing role models to pour into me and model what successful entrepreneurship looks like. Add to that the fact that I'm a free spirit. Lol. If you know anyone who is a free spirit then you know that we march to the beat of our own drum, we think outside the box, and tend NOT to go with the status quo. I knew early on that I needed to be in a space to do those things that were required and needed to serve others at a high level with integrity and my own special flair. Entrepreneurship was always the goal.
Tell the Visions of Greatness audience more about your products/services.
I help the overwhelmed and stressed to decrease and limit stress, shift their lifestyle, and embody true wellness by attaining health from the inside out. This is done via my coaching and consultant services (The WellYOU Bar Academy) where I help women to "get their groove back" by focusing on themselves more and everyone just a little bit less. We work together to create balance in life, business, family, and self by addressing health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, stress management, self-care, etc.
I also have a Corporate Wellness and Leadership Program (Wellness In the Jungle) where I facilitate Personal and Professional Development to create complete people who become complete employees that contribute to a positive and thriving work culture. Stress is a large part of both populations in which I serve, so to address the whole person, we focus on building and strengthening the four primary pillars of health to create free, healthy, and whole people.
I also offer speaking and workshops to assist communities in improving health disparities through education, instruction, and planning.
Finally, my book, G.L.O.W. Rx (Grow & Live Optimally Well): Your Practical Guide to Releasing Your Inhibitions, Finding Your Purpose, & Living Free, Healthy, & Whole will be released and available for pre-orders this month!! The book works in conjunction with my programs and services to fulfill your health and wellness needs. My goal is always to provide value upon value upon value in order to transform people's lives for the better.
What adjustments have you made in your life and business since the pandemic?
The primary adjustments of self-care and self-prioritization have been the greatest for me. This pandemic took most everyone by surprise and threw most of us for a loop. We were thrown into new environments and situations that we weren't given ample time for which to prepare. When you transition to a work from home environment or have to balance the safety of your children with your sanity, it brings a well of emotions into play and stress increases exponentially. My husband and I made a point to spend our meals together as a family. With a little one at home, he has been able to share in some of the duties giving them an opportunity to bond. Though we are both working long hours, we eat together and catch up on one another's day to remain connected. We also offer "temp checks" to make sure that we are still remaining emotionally connected and content with one another. Then, of course, being home has allowed me to focus and build my business, putting systems in place to allow for ease of running, growing, and scaling.
What advice would you give to women struggling to balance their life and business?
My advice would be this, "Don't fall on the sword sis!" Often times, women tend to sacrifice themselves for what we THINK is the greater good when it is the complete opposite. We are the foundation of both the family structure and the business structure, which means if the foundation cracks, everything else loses stability. Prioritize yourself! It is not only ok but it is necessary.
Share with us one ingredient in your secret sauce for success.
My ingredient is my FAITH. The world can be crumbling around me but I am rooted and stand firm in my faith in Christ. As a believer, I know things won't always be great and they won't always happen the way I want, when I want, but I do know the promise God has given to me and I hold on to that and serve out of THAT abundance.
