Visionary Spotlight: LESHIA BROWN - LUMPKIN

As entrepreneurs, it is important to take care of our mental health as it affects how we work, how we think, and how we feel. Furthermore, research shows the importance of managing stress and maintaining positive mental health for successful business outcomes.

I would first tell you to BEGIN THE BUSINESS SIS. Do not allow your fears to impact you from going forward to create a PROMISED future. Give yourself grace and DO NOT compromise your Mental Health. You can only operate at a full capacity when you are feeling your absolute best mentally while rational decision making. When you feel like you’re at your limit, do not keep pushing yourself. Take a step back and realize that “YOU CAN’T and SHOULDN’T” do it all.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering starting a business but is

worried about the potential impact on their mental health? How can they prepare themselves mentally for the challenges of entrepreneurship?

An important part of my daily self-help regime is prayer, meditation, and organization which encompasses emotional, psychological and social well-being.

Conduct an evaluation of what needs to be done first; which will preserve you for challenges to come. I want you to remember that the reason you embarked on this quest is because you had an idea and the wherewithal to go forward with it. You are allowed to make mistakes, take time off, enjoy the fruits of your labor and go in another direction if you choose. There is no perfect way to run a business. Entrepreneurship isn't easy AT ALL!!! You were created for this JOURNEY. Take as many detours as you need to. You are equipped with everything you need.
